You discussed about the western markets and China. I can see that you are trying to research in depth and would like to share some light about Dropshipping in ‘India’. Yes, India :)

Let me tell you why this is such a growing market and how dropshipping is the best suitable method here.

1. Best item to dropship in India is Women’s Ethnic Apparels. It is not a niche, it is a big big segment. So big that Amazon India has estimated Fashion Apparels to outrank Mobile and Electronics category in 2021. Women’s ethnicwear are so big that almost 61% of the overall apparels sold are Women’s.

2. When all dropshippers talk about Niche market, how can this work out when the category is so popular and has bigger giants directly selling online. Here it is, unlike any country in the planet, Indian women prefer newer designs and materials, almost every time. The tastes differ widely between states and cities. This is why you cannot see a single big brand in this niche, it is totally ‘fragmented’, totally.

Because of this, you’ll be finding all sizes of manufacturers where a big factory with 50,000 workers and as well in some distant land, inside huts, you’ll be finding a single person passionately sewing a Kurtis based on his taste.

3. All get sales. Why? population, difference in tastes, price range, culture, etc., Assume this, most Indian women wear Sarees. But unlike western market, it does not come in limited styling. Every region in India produces a different style of Sarees, different materials, at different prices, for different set of audience.

4. Less Margin in Dropshipping? that’s like a joke. We have a lot of resellers who are selling at equal margin as of the retailers and in some cases, we see some of these sellers are selling at very high margins too. This is because of the new varieties of designs and materials that keep coming up in this category. As most of these products would not have MRP and buyers cannot guess the prices mostly, resellers selling power is the only limitation in margin setting.

Even with such high margins, buyers would be still happy. Know why? Indian manufacturers products high VFM products because of the low wages comparing the western markets. Hence, there is a good room for margins. Second, e-commerce makes it possible for buyers to buy items of different varieties from different regions which is new for the buyers.

5. Why Dropshipping is the Better than Selling with Stocks? As informed above, Women’s apparels keep changing in the designs and materials. Most items are non-mrp, so whether you dropship or sell with stocks, your margin is going to be good. But as the designs keep changing fast, chances are that you will have a lot of ‘deadstocks’ when you keep stocks and sell. You will have a ‘0’ dead stocks in dropshipping while having the equal margin as reseller.

P.S: All these above attributes make dropshipping a best business model in India and for Indians staying abroad. You can be of any national, but can sell to Indians anywhere. The only problem is that Indian Manufacturers are not as co-operative like western or Chinese manufacturers.
